LMN = LMP + PMN
Thus LMN = (3x + 2)° + (2x - 7)° = (5x - 5)°
Since LMN = 140°
Then ⇒ (5x - 5)° = 140°
⇒ 5x = 145
⇒ x = 29
∴
x = 29

∠LMP + ∠PMN = ∠LMN Angle Sum Theorem
3x+2 + 2x-7 = 140 Substitution
5 x - 5 = 140 Add like terms
5x = 145 Add 5 to both sides
x = 29 Divide both sides by 5
Answer: x = 29
